Regional Opportunities

Becoming a Film‑Friendly Destination

Oro‑Medonte and the region continues to grow as an attractive location for film, television, and commercial productions, we are working with our regional partners to become a film friendly destination. As more producers look beyond traditional urban centres for unique settings, rural and small‑town destinations like ours have a valuable opportunity to showcase local character, landscapes, and talent.

To help streamline the process for both filmmakers and local businesses (locations, services, workforce etc), the Township offers a range of information for consideration through our website atOro-Medonte.ca/Film. Staff are available to assist navigating and learning about how we can work together, from local by-laws for consideration to location information and community contacts, our Economic Development Film Liason is available to assist in navigating requirements and ensuring a positive experience for all involved.

In addition, the County of Simcoe in partnership with the municipalities has created a comprehensive Film Industry Toolkit, offering region‑wide resources considerations, and best practices for working with film and media professionals. These tools help position Oro‑Medonte — and the broader region — as a film‑friendly environment ready to welcome new projects. Filming in Simcoe County recordings of the recent workshops will be posted here soon.

If you’d like to learn more about becoming film‑friendly or explore opportunities for your property or business, connect with the Township’s Economic Development department. We are learning about these opportunities together and how we can elevate Oro‑Medonte’ and the greater regions presence in Ontario’s growing film landscape.

Built between 1846-1849 by Black settlers, including veterans who served in defence of Upper Canada, this log church stands as a lasting symbol of faith, community, and perseverance.
